Term 4 Written Language

WALT write a character description of a person we know very well.
We know we have achieved this when we …
-    have written about the person’s physical appearance (the way they look).
-    have written about the person’s behaviour (how they speak or act).
-    have written about how they affect other people (what do they do to make you notice them).
-    have written about the person’s environment and belongings.
-    used descriptive words to make a picture in the mind of the reader

My Dad by Isabelle Radcliffe

My dad is called Nathan. He has white skin like a dirty whiteboard. He has blue eyes like water. He is thirty- nine. He has black hair and black eyebrows. Dad has coffee-stained teeth that are as brown as coffee. Dad has a pointy nose that can smell almost everything in the house. He likes trains and fancy cars. He tells me funny jokes and if he can, he will help on school trips. He likes family members and friends. He lives with me and we have a trampoline, pretty flowers and lavender that is purple. He likes dark purple flowers. He fixes trains and he is the team leader. He wears rugby shorts. He has a wedding ring that is gold, but never wears it to work because it is special.

Feedback:
You have used some good similes and some adjectives in your description to create that picture about your Dad.

Next steps:
1.    Organise your description into paragraphs – what he physically looks like, about his personality/behaviour, and about his environment/belongings.

2.   Try to start as many sentences with different words as you can.
